Wireless Solutions
Solutions for Enterprise

Wireless SolutionsToday, IP business communication requires the flexibility of wireless mobility, and the assurance of a secure, protected network. ADTRAN wireless solutions are allowing businesses to streamline and improve operational efficiencies, speed network deployment, expand customer service offerings, and increase flexibility for employees.

ADTRAN offers a breadth of business-class Wi-Fi and 3G wireless solutions. From the smallest retailer to the largest Fortune 500 business, companies are implementing Wi-Fi into daily operations to meet the demands of an increasingly mobile world. 3G wireless solutions are providing a new means to rapidly turn-up businesses in difficult to reach locations or areas where wireline service may be cost-prohibitive or unavailable. 3G wireless solutions are also ideal for disaster recovery and emergency connectivity.

ADTRAN license-free microwave radios are key to delivering ubiquitous access and scalable connectivity for service providers while providing reliable connectivity and backup options for corporate networks as well.

3G Wireless:

The use of a 3G cellular service is a compelling alternative to traditional wireline solutions. 3G solutions are providing a new means to rapidly turn-up businesses in difficult to reach locations or areas where wireline service may be cost-prohibitive or unavailable. 3G solutions are also ideal for disaster recovery and emergency connectivity.  With the use of the NetVanta 3G NIM, NetVanta routers can use 3G CDMA cellular service as a primary Wide Area Network (WAN) connection, or as a backup/disaster recovery link. As a primary WAN connection, 3G is perfect for mobile or temporary sites needing connectivity or for locations where wired service is unavailable. In addition, the 3G NIM can deliver WAN connectivity in a fraction of the time required to install a traditional wire-line connection.

License-free Microwave:

The TRACER Series is a family of point-to-point license-free wireless solutions that reduce monthly wireline expenditures and facilitate connectivity where landline infrastructure is unavailable or cost prohibitive. These systems deliver high-speed digital transport at distances up to 30 miles via a variety of interfaces including DS3, multi-T1, and 10/100Base-T Ethernet switching at both 2.4 and 5.8 GHz.

These affordable solutions are ideal for backhaul networks; temporary or emergency communications; disaster recovery; and wide area network voice, video, and data transport.  The TRACER 6000 Series is the industry’s first modular wireless solution offering user-configurable TDM and Ethernet functionality in a single 1U chassis.

Cost-effective T1 Backhaul

Cost-effective T1 Backhaul

In cellular backhaul operations, TRACER 6000 Series radios offer a flexible, grow-as-you-go solution to varying bandwidth requirements throughout a network. These modular, 1U radios accept two Quad T1, Quad E1, or Quad 10/100Base-T Ethernet cards for up to 16 Mbps of total bandwidth. With TRACER 6000 Series radios, you need only one model of radio to support from one to eight T1/E1 or four 10/100Base-T Ethernet ports, or a combination of these services. This simplifies network topography, minimizes sparing, and creates a single point of contact for technical support issues. TRACER 6000 Series radios can be managed using any standards-based SNMP management platform.

LAN Extension Plus T1s for Voice

LAN Extension Plus T1s for Voice

TRACER 6000 Series modular radios offer flexible bandwidth options for converged voice and data applications over a point-to-point wireless link. Dual module slots and user-selectable bandwidth from one to eight T1 configurations, including wayside T1s for voice. The quad bridge/switch module enables 10/100Base-T bridging, Local Area Network (LAN) extension, and Layer 2 switching. TDM and Ethernet modules may be combined in the same chassis to support license-free wireless voice and data applications.

Users seeking to connect high-speed LANs between buildings or across campuses can use the TRACER 5045 Wireless Bridge with integral Ethernet switch. TRACER 5045 provides a 45 Mbps full duplex wireless link for line-of-sight connections. Using one or more of the 10/100Base-T Ethernet ports, network managers can easily establish a connection to existing LAN networks, then extend connectivity to another location.

vWLAN:

vWLAN solution

The vWLAN solution offers companies in education, healthcare, hospitality, government and retail an excellent solution for wireless that is completely scalable to future technologies.

Cutting edge management console:
Includes location and head maps, health summary, enhanced reporting, notifications, and summary of the overall RF environment.

Integrated security:
Tightly integrated security modules offer robust and scalable NAC, Guest Access, AAA and WIDS capability.

Additional security at the edge:
User roles are managed by the central control software but are enforced by the AP. The roles contain multiple attributes including service policies, VLAN/subnet assignment, bandwidth, and QoS. A single SSID can be used to support multiple roles.

Increased Capacity:
By forwarding data traffic directly to the access point, you free enormous capacity within the wireless controller.

Reduction in Controller Hardware:
The uniquely distributed architecture supports decisions at the edge of the network and manages them centrally.

Optimized Performance:
System capacity is no longer computed by the backplane capacity of the hardware-based controller; rather, it's determined by the aggregate throughput of the APs.

Scalability to additional users and software without building out infrastructure:
Distributed architecture enables over a 10x increase in the total traffic.

Wi-Fi:

The award-winning NetVanta Series features Wi-Fi products for the Small-to-Medium-sized Business (SMB) and enterprise customer. Multiservice Access Routers with integrated Wi-Fi, standalone Wireless Access Points, and Wi-Fi Access Controllers for managing up to 24 NetVanta Wi-Fi capable products offer a wealth of solutions for flexibility and mobility in the workplace while addressing the most demanding business-class security concerns.

ADTRAN Wi-Fi solutions:

  • Streamline Operations
  • Expand Customer Service Offerings
  • Improve Operational Efficiencies

Secure Wireless Networking

Secure Wireless Networking

The NetVanta Wi-Fi solutions offer business-class security features like shared key authentication, MAC authentication, as well as Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP), Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), and WPA2 support. In this case, the NetVanta 150 is using 802.1x user authentication with a Radius Server to authenticate valid users accessing the corporate wireless network and provides central password/user management. Together these security standards ensure a highly protected business-class wireless network infrastructure.

Virtual Access Points to Segment Wireless LAN

Virtual Access Points to Segment Wireless LAN

The NetVanta Wi-Fi solutions employ Virtual AccessPoints (VAPs), the equivalent of wireless Virtual LANs (VLANs). Each wireless radio in the NetVanta Series supports up to eight unique VAPs, enabling enterprise customers to securely segment their wireless network traffic, like that of their wired network. In addition, a single VAP can be supported across multiple NetVanta Wi-Fi solutions which makes it perfect for larger coverage areas and roaming scenarios. The NetVanta 3448 with PoE powers each 802.3af compliant NetVanta 150and acts as the wireless access controller to centrally manage each NetVanta 150 throughout the network.

Wi-Fi Access Controller for Centralized Management

Wi-Fi Access Controller for Centralized Management

The NetVanta 1534 Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch has an integrated Wi-Fi Access Controller for centrally managing each NetVanta 150 Wireless Access Point (WAP) in your LAN. It provides 802.3 compliant PoE to the NetVanta 150 and can manage up to 24 NetVanta WAPs.  Management is simplified with the easy-to-use Web-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) that offers step-by-step configuration wizards.
