DS1/E1 over Fiber Optical SolutionsDS1/E1 over Fiber Optical Solutions:

ADTRAN provides scalable solutions for DS1 over fiber which may be provisioned in accordance with serice providers' density requirements. The TA 3000 QDFC/QDFR modules provide compact, cost effective solutions for up to 4 DS1 circuits per fiber and utilize either bidirectional optics of CWDM optical modules. The QDFx units are aggregated by ADTRAN's TA 3000 to provide OC-3 transport for the carried circuits. The OPTI-6100 provides for requirements greater than 4 DS1s and scales gracefully to 336 DS1s over fiber, utilizing the SMX, MX, or LMX chassis.

Available via the ADTRAN OPTI-6100 MSPP or QDFx DS1 over fiber modules for the Total Access 3000 platform. The QDFx series products are optimized for low density (1-4) deployments of DS1 circuits over fiber. The OPTI-6100 provides for much higher densities of DS1 delivery.

DS3/E3 over Fiber Optical Solutions:

The OPTI-3 provides for transport of 1-3 DS3s over fiber by using a compact wall or rack mount chassis. Designed to meet the growing demand for DS3 deployment in today’s economy, the OPTI-3 eliminates the need for expensive SONET multiplexer equipment in terminal mode applications and provides the fullest use of OC-3 capacity. 

The OPTI-6100 provides graceful expansion from 3 DS3s to 48 DS3s by utilizing the SMX, MX, and LMX chassis.

The OPTI-3 is interoperable with other SONET devices complying with GR-253 for easy deployment in new and existing SONET networks. A carrier-class device, the OPTI-3 meets the needs of applications that require extended temperature range operation such as remote terminals. The fully integrated design supports optional redundancy and is easily managed with support for TL1 commands over the Data Communications Channel (DCC). 

The space-saving OPTI-3 occupies standard slots in either a small two rack unit high wallmount chassis (WMC) or one rack unit high rackmount chassis (RMC). The OPTI-3 can also be configured to operate redundantly with optional protection.

The OPTI-3 may be utilized to terminate traffic which is transported via existing SONET rings. The OPTI-3 is GR-253 compliant and provides a full suite of SNMP and TL-1 based maintenance and administration capabilities to complement existing networks and infrastructures. The OPTI-3 interoperates with a broad array of SONET transport equipment and communicates via the SONET DCC or an out of band channel. The OPTI-3 at the customer premise may be wall or rack mounted, allowing the service provider to utilize the most appropriate mounting methodology.

The OPTI-6100 is deployed as a fully featured, interoperable OC-3 multiplexer. By utilizing SDH software, it may also be utilized as an STM-1/4 multiplexer. The system may be expanded to economically serve up to 336 DS1s (or 252 E1s) or 48 DS3s, utilizing OC-48 transport.
